After more than twenty years of making us dream under the stars, Sala Montjuïc begins a new chapter in the Tres Xemeneies in Sant Adrià del Besòs. Its spirit, however, remains intact: nights of cinema, live music, and open skies in a unique setting. With greater accessibility and the same magic as always, the festival renews itself to remain a summer classic in Barcelona. A change of scenery to keep experiencing cinema like never before.
Live music to make the evening more enjoyable, short films and films from all over the world fill the publicity board of this unique cinema which has managed to a space for itself within the city's summer cultural programme. Because of the quality and variety of its programme, because of its accessible price, because of the magic of the location and because Sala Montjuïc is not just a cinema, it is a lovely place for meeting and social coexistence. -

Created in 2003, Loop is a platform that focuses on the possibilities and challenges presented by video art, one of the key artistic movements of modern times. Each year, Loop hosts professionals and the public for a gathering where they can explore the latest technological and other developments in the moving image sector and see the work of new and established creatives who use video as their main tool.
Loop Festival runs for around 10 days and includes screenings, exhibitions, concerts, talks and other live events at numerous venues around the city. -
These summer nights in Barcelona fill once again with cinema through Pantalla Pavelló, a cycle projecting films directly onto the travertine of the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion. The built environment and its boundaries become a stage for reflection on architecture, the city, and its inhabitants. MecalPro is the Barcelona International Short and Animation Film Festival which offers a fascinating range of audiovisual screenings. The event includes short films shot in Spain and others from countries all over the world competing in different official sections. There are also extra sessions and parallel activities covering a wide range of subject matter, genres, periods and filmmakers.

Sitges Festival Internacional de Cinema Fantàstic de Catalunya
Inaugurated years ago as the world's first film festival dedicated to the fantastic genre, today it's become the region's biggest celebration of the moving image. The picturesque seaside town of Sitges, 30 minutes down the coast from Barcelona, hosts hundreds of films from around the globe, including animation, rom-com and gangster as well as its core themes of gore, horror and fantasy.
Running in parallel to the screenings are exhibitions, master classes and Q&A sessions, special events focused on television series, the chance to see films using virtual reality technology, plus a crowded Zombie Walk through the streets of Sitges. -
Within the documentary world, documentaries about music have a category all of their own. The In-Edit Festival has become a benchmark event in this category. Coordinated and held in Barcelona, it also touches down in Madrid, Chile, Brazil, Netherlands and Greece.
Since 2020, you can download a selection of musical documentaries from the online platform In-Edit TV and enjoy them at your leisure from any mobile device, and see live streaming events that will be held during the festival. -
The Pantalla de Barcelona Festival presents its fourteenth edition from 26 June to 24 July. 12 civic centres across the city of Barcelona will offer film screenings that have been made, filmed, or produced in Barcelona to enjoy the best movies under the stars.

Free summer film screenings on the beach independent film nights
"Cinema Lliure" on the beach is a free festival of independent cinema that takes place on summer nights on different beaches on the Catalan coast. Sessions where films that have been programmed in theaters and festivals in Catalonia are screened in original version. A cultural event that will make you discover on the beach films outside the commercial circuit, and which contradicts the cliché according to which independent cinema is reserved only for theoreticians and critics.
